Abstract

Local communities often interact with armed groups long before more formal negotiations. They face huge risks, but these discussions can be essential for improving local security and providing opportunities for peacebuilding. This Accord Insight documents the experiences of communities in four different conflicts who have worked to influence the behaviour of armed groups.
