How to build peace in fragile contexts?: Strategies of defense and return to the territory

This publication is a collection of articles that deal with international experiences of non-violence in the midst of conflicts. The article How to build peace in fragile contexts?: Strategies of defense and return to the territory, by Laura Henao and Juan Pablo Guerrero, makes a brief account of the history of violence in Colombia, to focus on one of the regions of the country, Bajo Atrato, and how the communities that reside there have organized to face violence and how their self-management and the collaboration of different national and international organizations have been helpful in the search for territorial peace. At the end of the article, a series of recommendations are made to guarantee civil human rights, the basic needs of the communities, and the inclusion of the regions in national and international markets in the context of rapid economic change. Esta publicación es una reunión de artículos que tratan experiencias internacionales de no violencia en medio de conflictos. El artículo How to build peace in fragile contexts?: Strategies of defense and return to the territory, de los investigadores Laura Henao y Juan Pablo Guerrero, hace un breve recuento de la historia de la violencia en Colombia, para centrarse en una de las regiones del país, el Bajo Atrato, y cómo las comunidades que allí residen se han organizado para hacer frente a la violencia y cómo su autogestión y la colaboración de distintas organizaciones nacionales e internacionales ha sido de ayuda para la búsqueda de una paz territorial. Al final del artículo se hacen una serie de recomendaciones para garantizar los derechos humanos civiles, las necesidades básicas de las comunidades y la inclusión de las regiones en los mercados nacionales e internacionales en un contexto de rápido cambio económico.
