Creating Safer Space is an international research network, which aims to understand and support unarmed civilian protection and self-protection amidst violent conflict.
We have recently launched a funding competition, and we hope to fund 15 – 20 research projects, each to the value of £20,000 - £100,000 GBP. In this newsletter, we invite potential applicants to an information session, to find out more about our grants and how to apply.
We also wish to invite you to our next two research cafés. The January café will focus on how unarmed civilian protection differs from, and relates to, civil resistance and human rights defence. The February café will focus on a participatory and creative research method called ‘Drawing Out’, which is especially suitable to research on unarmed civilian protection.
Finally, we are very happy to announce a new research work package on unarmed civilian protection in Kenya.
